Aquarius Energy is proud to announce that Zuva Petroleum, Zimbabwe, has been shortlisted for the Global Tank Storage Awards 2025 in the prestigious “Safety Technology” category.
This nomination highlights Zuva Petroleum’s commitment to safety excellence through the Tier 1 Self-Verification (SV) Process — a cutting-edge approach to proactive risk management and safety assurance in terminal operations.
Watch the Tier 1 Self-Verification Process in Action.
How does the Tier 1 Self Verification process work?
The Tier 1 Self Verification process is a robust tool for identifying and addressing gaps in HSEC management.
During on-site evaluations, assessors use an intrinsically safe device to complete a detailed on–line assessment protocol.
This process includes engaging directly with front-line workers through interviews and real-time activity observations, ensuring comprehensive data collection.
Once completed, the protocols are uploaded into a database with a Power BI lens applied.
This enables the analysis of trends, tracking of material actions, and identification of recurring gaps, facilitating targeted interventions.
The SV tool supports a data-driven approach to continual improvement, providing both workers and leadership with actionable insights to enhance safety practices and overall operational assurance.
How is this tool improving safety in our terminals?
- Risk-Based Self-Verifications – Focused on high-risk activities and areas prone to complacency, ensuring critical safety concerns receive immediate attention.
- Fostering a Culture of Safety – Actively engages frontline workers and leadership in safety management, promoting collaboration and shared responsibility.
- Proactive Risk Mitigation – Encourages early identification and resolution of potential safety gaps before they escalate.
- Data-Driven Enhancements – Allows leadership to track safety trends, monitor critical actions, and implement targeted safety improvements.
- Systematic Documentation – Ensures consistent and structured record-keeping, reducing risks to employees and the surrounding environment.
The Tier 1 SV tool transforms safety management from a reactive approach to a proactive, data-driven strategy, reinforcing the “Gaps are Good” philosophy — where every finding becomes an opportunity for safety enhancement.
